ARTIST STATEMENT

Since I was a small child I have always wanted to be an artist. I have always felt the need to express myself through art, whether through drawing, sculpture or painting, always allowing my thoughts and feelings to come alive through my work.

I love color. I love everything about it! This is the driving force behind my work. I’m inspired on a daily basis by my surroundings. I love to start out with a good design and work through the painting with lots of color, texture and light. I paint landscapes because they offer me the opportunity to work with all three of these qualities. I strive to capture Alaska’s beautiful natural habitat.

Painting is a vital and deeply fulfilling passion for me. With each brush stroke I strive to celebrate nature in a riot of vibrant color. I feel that I am constantly learning as an artist and that my style is ever changing and growing. What you see on canvas is the embodiment of my artistic vision.

BIOGRAPHY

I was born in Spokane, Washington on August 3, 1964. I moved to Anchorage with my family in the summer of 1973. After graduating from high school I went out of state to attend art school for a couple years and came back to finish out at the University of Alaska Anchorage with a BFA in painting. I currently live in the Turnagain area with my husband and children. I enjoy the outdoors, reading, cooking, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
